Non-surgical facelift
A non-surgical facelift at Barstable Medical Clinic
One of the commonest treatments performed at Barstable Medical Clinic, the non-surgical facelift (also known as a mini lower facelift) is performed using dermal fillers to help lift sagging facial skin and revolumise areas of the face that have deflated with the normal aging process.
As we age, we start to lose the fat pads in our face, that in our twenties and thirties are full and provide the structure to keep our skin looking tight and youthful. As a result of the loss of these fat pads, as well as declining levels of natural hyaluronic acid and collagen, our skin sags, cheeks and under eyes appear more hollow, jawlines are more loose and jowls develop.
Non-surgical facelift information
For patients who are not keen to go under the knife for an invasive surgical facelift, the non-surgical facelift/mini lower facelift is a perfect alternative. It is also a fantastic treatment for those whose aging process is not severe enough for surgery. The treatment itself involves careful and detailed injection of dermal fillers into areas of the cheek, midface, jawline and chin to revolumise lost fat and lift up sagging skin, resulting in a natural, refreshed and more youthful profile.
This is an advanced injectable procedure which requires a highly experienced medical practitioner, like the doctors at Barstable Medical Clinic, in order to achieve excellent results. It requires an in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy as well as medical understanding of the aging process, and therefore with our experienced medical team you know you are in safe hands if you choose to undergo your advanced aesthetic treatments with us.
If you are unsure as to whether you need or could benefit from this treatment, please book a free, no obligation consultation with our friendly and experienced team. We will undertake a full facial analysis and medical/aesthetic history and talk you through what can expect and what results are likely to be achieved.
Non-surgical facelift - frequently asked questions
Most patients over the age of 30 will experience some form of facial aging in the lower face and would most likely be good candidates for dermal filler rejuvenation. The amount of ‘lifting’ required for each patient is obviously individual to them.
Before any treatment we request that you attend a no-obligation, pre-treatment consultation and facial analysis with one of our doctors or nurse.
At this free consultation we will assess your facial anatomy and skin quality and discuss your expectations for results and advise as to what is achievable and realistic for you.
Prior to the procedure, you will have a numbing cream applied to your face to ensure you are comfortable during the treatment. The procedure obviously differs person to person, due to individual anatomy being different, but you can expect a combination of small injections as well as the use of a cannula.
This is a blunt-ended needle that glides through the skin tissues, veins and vessels, is much more comfortable than being injected multiple times with a traditional needle and minimises the chances of bruising.
Specific amounts of the dermal filler is then placed into the areas that require treatment and revolumisation. The procedure itself will take approx. 45mins and then you can return back to your daily activities, adhering to the aftercare advice that the clinic gives you.
There minimal-to-no cosmetic downtime. There may be some small bruises and some pin-prick marks on the skin for a few hours after the treatment, as well as some swelling and tenderness, but these will subside in a day or so.
Heavier bruising can take several days, and it all depends on your individual response to treatment.
The longevity of results can vary from patient to patient, and there are certain lifestyle and environmental factors that can extend or minimise the longevity of your own results. For example, smoking, excessive sun exposure, excessive exercise and not drinking enough water can reduce the longevity of results.
In general dermal fillers used for non-surgical facelifts will last approx. 12-18 months, and may require small maintenance ‘top ups’ over time to enhance the result.
