Hayfever treatment

Hayfever treatment at Barstable Medical Clinic in Essex

We know how frustrating hayfever can be, so at Barstable Medical Clinic we offer a range of hay fever treatments to help manage your symptoms, including prescribed medications and injections.

At your free consultation, you’ll be assessed by a fully qualified GP who will discuss all available options available with you. These may include a prescription for nasal sprays, antihistamines or eye drops.

If appropriate, the doctor may be able to prescribe and administer an injection which may alleviate your symptoms for up to 10-12 weeks.

Hayfever treatment

Hayfever – also known as rhinitis – can be very debilitating for some people, particularly over the spring and summer months. Typical symptoms include itchy eyes, runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing and an itchy throat.

Many over the counter remedies are available from the chemist such as antihistamines and nasal sprays. In cases where these are ineffective, your GP may be able to prescribe rhinitis treatments such as Fexofenadine (an effective and non-sedating antihistamine) or steroid nasal sprays such as Avamys.

If your quality of life is significantly impacted by hayfever, and all of the above treatments have failed, then it may be appropriate for you to have an injection, which although is off licence, can alleviate many symptoms.
